28-30 Addiscombe Grove, Croydon
AROS architects gained full planning consent for a new-build office building opposite East Croydon station. The building joins a growing number of landmark developments contributing to Croydon's Third City and the Vision 2020 re-generation, including the Croydon Gateway. The 50,000 sq ft scheme for Berwick Hill Properties has a dramatic cantilever over the main entrance creating a prominent geometry when seen from the roundabout.
The building's richly textured cladding uses stainless-steel mesh panels for solar protection and privacy mediation with immediate neighbours. The building has achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating, and utilises integral, surface-printed glass Photovoltaic panels on the south façade, contributing towards the use of on-site renewable energy production to meet the 10% target.
The cladding integrates colour change LED technology, illuminating the mesh panels as part of Croydon’s Skyline cityscape lighting scheme.
